It is the U.S. Army’s Online and Social Media Division’s hope that the new edition of this handbook with help Army social media managers and their teams continue to use social media effectively to tell their organization’s story.

This edition of the Social Media Handbook is longer than the first edition. It includes an expanded operations security (OPSEC) section, a section about blogging and Army Strong Stories and a section discussing how to manage fake Facebook pages and social media imposters. In addition to the new sections, we’ve also included a quick reference guide for both Facebook and Twitter and a 10-page social media glossary.

We also took this opportunity to update several sections include in the first edition of the Social Media Handbook. We updated the Army Leaders on social media section, expanded the list of social media resources, updated the garrison crisis management section and made dozens of other copy changes to reflect updates in the social media environment.
