Interested in learning how the U.S. Army is evaluating smartphone technologies for Soldiers?
Join the U.S. Army’s Online and Social Media Division for a Bloggers Roundtable Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at 9 a.m. EST with Lt. Gen. Michael Vane, Director of the Army Capabilities Integration Center. Lt. Gen. Vane will be discussing the latest developments in how the Army is evaluating smartphone technologies and software applications to provide Soldiers the ability to learn anytime and anywhere.
Lt. Gen. Vane will lead the conversation and answer questions about Connecting Soldiers to Digital Applications (CSDA) initiatives and the Army’s emerging work on making small tactical units more decisive through training, materiel, and leader development.
LTG Vane and other senior Army leaders have seen enormous potential for the Army to employ commercially developed smartphone technologies and develop software applications for Soldier needs. This has led to a CSDA initiative with rigorous evaluation of potential of giving Soldiers emerging technologies and capabilities to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency during operations and while in schools.
Squads are the Army’s most effective means to engage hybrid threats in complex terrain and among the population. It is essential that small tactical units are networked to coordinate and collaborate, while leveraging Live, Virtual, Constructive and Gaming technologies to help develop agile and adaptive leaders. Lt. Gen. Vane will discuss how U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command is moving forward to better empower Soldiers and small units – our decisive edge.
