My mother has been in the Army for 23 years now, and I don't think that a deployment is ever easy for a child. The last time my mom deployed was in 2007, and I was a recent college graduate. It was hard and every day was a challenge, but as hard as it was, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am proud of my mom for the sacrifices that she has made over the years, and I believe that I am a stronger person because of those sacrifices.

I don’t think we give children enough credit. I went to 2 different elementary schools and 3 different high schools. I was a trooper, and I know that I’m not alone. I am in no way suggesting that it’s easy for military children because it’s not. I am simply saying that they will surprise you. To all the military children in the world—you are strong and capable of moving mountains. Be proud of what your parents do and know that they miss you as much as you miss them.
