September was designated as suicide awareness month by Army senior leaders. And while September has come and gone it is still important to remember the importance of suicide prevention and awareness.Spc. Joe Sanders was deployed when he tried to take his own life. Fortunately for him his battle buddy was aware of the signs and was able to step in before Sanders was able to carry our any thoughts he had about taking his life.
Now, Sanders is telling his story in hopes of helping other Soldiers have the courage to step in when they suspect something may be wrong with their battle buddy, fellow Soldier or friend.
The following video does a great job at echoing everything that senior leaders have been saying for months about speaking out about suicide, looking out for our battle buddies and eliminating the stigma about seeking help.
